October Mark Twain House News:

  • Twainiacs, those in the Mark Twain House and Museum's special membership category for those 39 and under, will get exclusive access to a late-night ghost tour on Halloween weekend. The Twainiac Ghost Tour will take place on Friday, Oct. 28.  For $20, Twainiacs can attend a 9:30 pm reception in the museum's café, where they will mingle with other Twainiacs and get a free beer or soft drink. Thus relaxed, they will be ready for a 10 pm private ghost tour of the Twain House. Reservations are required: 860-280-3130.
  • The public is invited to dress in its Halloween finery for the first-ever Steampunk Halloween Masquerade Ball. Dr. Grymm Laboratories, mastermind of the Mark Twain House & Museum's exhibit Steampunk Bizarre: The Unknown, has arranged an evening of fears and gears. The masquerade ball will run Friday, Oct. 21 from 7 to 10 pm in the Mark Twain Museum Center. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling 860-280-3130.   • Present-day official storyteller Jonathan Kruk will be heard at The Mark Twain House & Museum for two performances, Tuesday, Oct. 25, and Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 conjuring a one-man adaptation of Irving's immortal eerie tale, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." And in line with the eerie theme, the performance will be held in the eerie Mark Twain House basement.
